MadelineLigenza_2017Born and raised in New York City, Madeline attended the School of American Ballet under the tutelage of George Balanchine. She studied various forms of dance in New York under Matt Mattson/jazz, Madame Branitzka/classical ballet and ethnic dance and George Chaffee/classical ballet. She danced professionally in the annual production of “The Nutcracker” with the New York City Ballet for three years. Choreographed plays for Marian H S, Panther Valley H S, for 25 years and the Mauch Chunk Opera House, Murder Mysteries and Strawberry Playhouse. She was the former owner/artistic director of the Nesquehoning School of Classical Ballet for 29 years. She has taught ballroom, wedding choreography and Pilates. Madeline has been the president of the Nesquehoning Woman’s Club and served on the Executive Board for many years.. She is also the current President of the Jim Thorpe Lioness, and retired Director of the Carbon County Bureau of Collections, Court of Common Pleas. She is also a director of the Carbon County Fair and past coordinator of the Fair Queen program.
